Deforestation is forests and large wooded areas being cut down in a way that can affect the environment, but some people think otherwise. Some people and a few environmental extremist think that simply cutting down any tree is deforestation. This line of thinking can hurt companies that are eco friendly or companies that know what they're doing. Eco friendly companies can keep well managed forestry area that allows them to cut down trees without harming the environment. Those extremists might protest or try to hurt these better companies when there are other companies that are actually hurting the planet.
Wood is used for many important things so it comes down to eco friendly company or a company that could care less about the repercussions. Chances are that the eco friendly might not be as efficient, so if a large amount of people boycott or protest they could go under. That situation can be really bad cause it could discourage other eco companies and there would be a total waste of manpower. Manpower meaning that those people could be doing something productive instead of shooting themselves in the foot.
Agricultural expansion is the main reason for deforestation and has many effects. One of the biggests reasons forests are cut down at all is because of agriculture. Fields need a large amount of space. That space can hold an entire forest would be cut down for flat fields. Similar to what I have stated in my other blogs is that topsoil left without plants or at least of cover crop can be blown away or eroded away before it can be used.
I am kind of in the middle when it comes to deforestation for agriculture. Soil erosion would happen only if the people left the topsoil bare in the open. People who have been irresponsible with soil have caused disasters before for instance the US Dust Bowl. The Dust Bowl blew up so much eroded soil and dust that it covered most of America from the Rockies to the east coast. Even with possible disasters close to the Dust Bowl so long that the person in change is responsible then farms or replanted forests won’t have to much trouble growing back.
